The Rio Grande Valley Builders Association (RGVBA) announced the recipients of the Builder of the Year (2010) and the Lester Miles Associate of the Year during its annual Christmas Party in December at the McAllen Country Club. These two annual awards are presented to individuals or companies who, during the year, proved themselves to be outstanding members of the Association. The recipients of these awards have gone “above and beyond” in their service to the Association and have distinguished themselves by volunteering their time and talents to help promote the RGVBA.

Mary Ramirez, President and CEO, and Michael Ramirez of Chris Ryan Homes were honored with the RGVBA’s highest honor, “Builder of the Year Award” in recognition of their distinguished service. Chris Ryan Homes has differentiated itself with superior attention and service, not just to the RGVBA but also to its homebuyers. The company has consistently been ahead of the curve in innovative construction techniques, so it was no surprise that Chris Ryan Homes became the Rio Grande Valley’s first GreenBuilt RGV builder. They were the first builder in the Rio Grande Valley to build “green” homes certified in the RGVBA’s newly formed GreenBuilt RGV program. Homes that receive a GreenBuilt RGV certification are better built, provide greater energy efficiency and savings, offer improved air quality, and are environmentally friendly. These homes must also be certified as ENERGY STAR homes to qualify for the GreenBuilt RGV certification. Mary and Michael have always had a reputation for providing quality construction and energy efficient homes, and their recent accomplishments only serve to enhance that reputation. The RGVBA appreciated Chris Ryan Homes’ initiative in being the first to participate in their GreenBuilt RGV program. The company has consistently volunteered time and resources in support of the RGVBA and its fundraising events and workshops throughout the year. Chris Ryan Homes has been building homes in the Rio Grande Valley for over 15 years.
